A door closes, a window opens.....
I was very sorry to hear that the Raintree Gallery and Framing shop was closing at the end of 2013.
It will certainly be missed. I look forward to working with Margie and Julie in Art in the Park the festival in June here in Versailles.
Meanwhile...back at the ranch..... well, opportunity knocks again! I have been invited to show and sell my dolls at the Kennydid Gallery in Midway, KY., located on Main Street, next to the Grey Goose Restaurant, (a great place to eat!!). Kenny Smith specializes in Photography Arts, and the gallery is filled with the photos and paintings of many very talented artists. I am honored to have my dolls shown in such company!
Kennydid has a great Facebook page, and posted a very complimentary introduction of his newest artist's work. https://www.facebook.com/#!/Kennydid Thank you so much, Kenny Smith!!

New Venue!!
Greetings from your long-lost dollmaker!!
I apologize for abandoning this page for these past months. Took a little break from sewing, to concentrate on gardening, photography, and other things. Then, when my friends' shop, Truly Bluegrass Arts and Collectibles closed, I thought my craft room would be bursting at the seams, when I brought everything home.
But then...Great News! I was invited to Raintree Art Gallery, also here in Versailles.
Needless to say, I accepted the opportunity, Julie came and selected a nice variety, and has displayed them artfully among complimentary pieces by other artists.
This is Audine, created from the pattern for Madame, by Arley Berryhill.

A tree-t for the birds.
When the birds get used to it, I'll be able to get pictures of them, and the squirrels, who will help themselves, too. So much fun to watch!!

Something from nothing
Just fiddling around with some little things...fun to make something from nothing. Those little plastic hangers that sox are packaged on, and three or four buttons, and a dab of glue..... all decked out in tuxedos!! Could be a pin doll, or package tie-on or greeting card, etc...

Wrapped wire armature...
I was cleaning the craft room.....came across some wire stems I’d saved
from silk flowers used for something else.
I bent and twisted the wires into a body shape, wrapped it with floral tape, then with strips of polyester batting; then wrapped legs and lower body with a strip of nylon organza fabric. Stood her in a weighted bottle, pinned on a head (from my stash of ‘parts’), pinned on some wool-roving for hair, draped her with a piece of silky blouse fabric, and Voila! An art piece!!!

Well, it’s a beginning..... We'll see what happens......

Horsing around again!
Well, I have done a bit of doll-making, of sorts, this summer. Here is a little group of lapel pins I just finished. Spot found them just too tempting to resist very carefully reaching out to just touch one.
Some of them are recycled silk ties.
